Lead story · VincennesLawrence County Highway Department, reproducing an INDOT announcement
The Lincoln Memorial Bridge is a local connection our Vincennes customers need to plan around. Lawrence County’s official Highway Department page carries INDOT’s announcement: SR 441 at the bridge is scheduled to close around November 16, with work expected through mid-March 2027.
Crossroads perspectiveBefore your next Vincennes parts or service visit, call us with your direction of travel and equipment details. Confirm the approach and appointment before committing to the trip.

I-57 · local parking investmentUSDOT / FMCSA
There is a local angle in the national parking announcement: USDOT lists about $12.65 million for Green Creek and Post Oak southbound rest areas on I-57, with 38 estimated new truck spaces. This is useful planning news for our Effingham-area customers—not a notice that the spaces are open.
Crossroads perspectiveCrossroads offers overnight parking. Call ahead to confirm the participating location, available space and site instructions before building a stop into your route.

Freight economics · winter prepOOIDA Foundation · Truckstop + FTR data
OOIDA’s October report shows a September rebound in dry-van spot rates, including a Midwest increase. That is encouraging context for Illinois and Indiana operators, but a regional average is not your next load quote. Our focus at the shop is the part you can plan: the truck’s maintenance needs before winter.
Crossroads perspectiveWhen margins are tight, plan the work instead of waiting for a failure to choose the time and place. Ask about winter-prep and preventive maintenance at Effingham, Bedford or Vincennes; Decatur is parts only.

Equipment records · DataQsFMCSA bulletin and DataQs Help Center
If an equipment inspection is disputed, the timeline matters. FMCSA’s DataQs reforms describe three review stages. For our customers, the shop-side lesson is to keep the inspection report and relevant dated records together—and distinguish a correction request from proof that a defect was repaired afterward.
Crossroads perspectiveA dated invoice may help explain work and timing, but a repair after an inspection does not by itself show that the original violation was wrong. Ask the service desk what records are available for your unit.

Period: FMCSA reported nationwide adoption of the review framework on Oct. 16, 2026. Response standards are not filing deadlines.
Effingham area · project reminderIllinois Department of Transportation
Altamont is a closer fit for our Effingham customers than this edition’s original Galesburg selection. IDOT’s I-70 project notice describes a 2026 pavement phase scheduled through November, followed by bridge replacements in 2027. Keep that work in mind when arranging an Effingham parts pickup or service appointment.
Crossroads perspectiveGive the Effingham team your direction of travel and expected arrival window when you call. Check the current I-70 work-zone layout and confirm the stop before leaving; the original project schedule is not a live traffic feed.

Period: 2026 pavement phase was scheduled through November; bridge replacements planned for 2027. Current lane configuration must be checked.
